What is Direct Fire?

Direct Fire is an artillery term, denoting direct contact with the enemy, as opposed the the usual "Indirect Fire" missions. Artillery is so much more satisfying when you can see your opponents blow up!

Direct Fire! is also my attempt at giving a little more presence to Games Workshop's Epic Armageddon game. Epic Armageddon is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, but the battles fought are on a much grander scale. In fact, it has been said that that an entire game of 40K is one-turn of an Epic battle. The rules and some supplements are available for free on Games Workshop's website, under the Specialist Games section. In addition, there is a large online community helping to keep the game supported and alive. Links to some of these sites are located in the "Links" section of this blog.

It is my hope to use Direct Fire! as a project log for my various Epic armies - currently Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Chaos and Orks - as well as offering tips on terrain, battle reports, and whatever else comes to mind. I hope you enjoy your visit and can use some of the information I provide here.

So until next time, keep your powder dry - we've got tanks in the open and ground-pounders to support!
